Applying Epoxy Coating to Garage in Sydney

Many times we don't think about our garages or pay much focus on their appearance. They are simply just a place to park the cars and store the excess boxes of Xmas decorations and such. However, like any other room in your own home your storage area floor must be taken care of.
Because of the put it to use gets, coupled with drinking water, gas and engine oil that will inevitable be spilled upon it, garage floors can easily become ruined and get started to fall apart after a few years useful. Epoxy layer is one treatment for your garage flooring challenge. Epoxy layer applies a layer of sealant and protectant to your concrete car port floor to help it avoid staining, moisture problems and helps it maintain its appearance.
Installing epoxy floor coverings takes a little up-front planning before beginning. The most important step in the procedure is ensuring the floor you will apply the epoxy layer onto is free of moisture, residual car paint and does not have a cement sealer or other concluding applied to it.
To test for moisture, have a sheet of clear plastic and take it to a 3-foot x 3-foot area using masking tape. Keep it there for approximately two times and then remove and look for any moisture collecting privately of the clear plastic facing the ground. If moisture is present, than an epoxy floors covering is not suited as epoxy requires a dried surface to properly connection with the floors.
Next, we'll test to ensure the flooring doesn't have a sealant already put on it. This test will also check for the occurrence of oils in the cement as well. Have a cup of water and put it immediately onto the prevailing flooring. It should soak into the floor in a reasonable amount of time. If it beads or simply sits on top of the flooring then the flooring has probably already been sealed or has oil contaminants. Epoxy floor is not suitable for cement floors which may have already been closed or contain any type of petrol residue as it will not bond.
Finally, if you are willing to spend several months testing an area of your storage floor for suitability to installing epoxy floor you can paint a tiny area with regular, oil-based enamel. If this test area can last for several a few months then chances are an epoxy coating can last as well. However, if you opt to proceed with applying the epoxy finish you will need to eliminate this enamel layer which will require sanding.
